Eye care work at Kuluva Hospital run smoothly throughout the year with daily ophthalmologic reviews and assessments with quarterly Ophthalmic surgical camps. Over the course of the years, Dr. Keith Waddell has regularly visited the Hospital to perform surgeries at a subsidized cost. Many of the local staff have received trainings and mentorship from this renowed eye surgeon.
The eye department of Kuluva Hospital offers both outreach and static eye services to the communities within Uganda and abroad where we receive patients from neighboring countries like South Sudan and Democratic Republic of Congo.
The eye department of Kuluva Hospital works in partnership with Med-Optics Vision Centre where several services are offered to patients within and across the boarder with neigboring countries of South Sudan and DRC. They includes the following;
- Surgery both minor and major done once or sometimes twice a year
- Supply of glasses to patients who have been advised to use them
- supply of readers and refractors to the patients
- Treat all eye sickness for patients both within the region and those from neighboring countries.
The eye department of Kuluva Hospital acts as a training ground for students pursuing health science courses at various instructions in Uganda and abroad
